The unstable and sometimes plummeting commodity prices combined with high cost of production and soaring interest rates have led to severe debt servicing problems for these countries . The potential for growth in the non - traditional sub sector is enormous considering the demand and price on the commodity market and more importantly the opportunities for value addition through agro - industrialization.
